Celebration of the memory of Saint Artemios, Patron Saint of Police Officers, in Carlton, Melbourne

On Sunday, 22 October 2023, at the Church of Saint John the Forerunner and Baptist, in Carlton, Melbourne, the memory of Saint Artemios the Great Martyr, Patron Saint of the Police Force was celebrated, with the conducting of the Divine Liturgy and afterwards with a Doxology Service, led by Parish Priest Father Emmanuel Lykopandis.

Present also for the celebration were representatives from both State and Federal Law Enforcement agencies. Representing the Federal Government was Ms. Maria Vamvakinou MP, member for Calwell. At the end of the Doxology Service, Inspector Andrew Markakis president of the Hellenic Police Association thanked Fr. Emmanuel and the Parish for their continued support and commitment.

During the Divine Liturgy, an Icon of Saint Artemios was ceremoniously placed on the official police flag, which was gifted by the Hellenic Police Association to Victoria Police as a recognition of joint friendship and cooperation.

All present for this event prayed fervently for Saint Artemios to intercede and protect all Police Officers.
