Celebration of the Holy Feast of Theophany, at the Archdiocesan District of Northcote, Victoria, Australia.
With due splendor and with the blessing of His Eminence the Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the great and holy Despotic Feast of Theophany was celebrated in the Archdiocesan District of Northcote of Victoria.
On Thursday, January 6, His Grace, Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta officiated at the Orthros and the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Transfiguration of our Saviour in the suburb of Thomastown in Melbourne, Victoria. Afterwards, he presided over the Great Santification of the waters.
In his sermon, His Grace referred to the meaning of the feast and the great gift that mankind received from God, who was made incarnate to baptise all of mankind and give unto all the Heavenly Kingdom of God.
“The feast of the Theophany”, he stressed, “is a reminder to all of us that our nature has been created for God. With the Holy Epiphany all creation celebrates and everything bows to the creator and Master, who is Christ, Jesus”.
Also, His Grace stressed that we are all called to live this revelation of the Most High God, that is, of the Holy Trinity, not once a year on this particular holiday, or only through some Theological knowledge, but daily through our personal life and especially through our relationships with our fellow human beings. “The unity and love that prevails in the Holy Trinity is a key example for us, for how we should live happily with each other,” he noted. “To be united, loved and to have good cooperation”, he pointed out, “for the good of the world, society and the universe”.
His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta conveyed the prayers and blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia to the Proistamenos of the Parish, Fr. GeorgeFrangos, to the ecclesiastical committee, to the Philoptochos society and to all the parishioners and pilgrims who came to celebrate the whole feast.
Finally, it is noted that the celebrations of the Epiphany were attended, among others, by the Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Mr. Emmanuel Kakavelakis, and the chairman of the Victorian Inter-Communities Committee, Mr. Antonios Tsourdalakis.
