The Boy And The Tree | Kids’ Movie

Twenty-five years after the classic Froutopia and two years after The Little Mouse Who Wanted to Touch a Star, the beloved author of children’s tales, Eugene Trivizas, returns to Greek television with another Christmas story, aimed at both children and adults.

One Tree, Once is one of his most cherished books, promoting ecological awareness and conveying timely messages about the lives of marginalized individuals in modern cities. It is adapted into a high-quality 3D animated film.

The fairy tale unfolds on a Christmas night when a neglected tree, growing on a dreary sidewalk in a city, meets a poor boy. The tree, envious of the beautifully decorated Christmas trees it sees through the windows of houses, asks the boy to decorate it. However, the boy has no decorations or money. How can he decorate a sickly tree in the middle of a cold, dirty sidewalk? Yet… this night is different from all others, a night of dreams, a magical night…

In a co-production with Time Lapse Pictures, ERT brings to life this half-hour program of high standards. The film, a delightful family show full of emotion, subtle humor, rich imagination, and without any violence, is based on an original script by Eugene Trivizas himself. Directed by Panagiotis Rappas (a collaborator of Steven Spielberg and a lifelong member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences), the production is handled by Panagiotis Rappas and the Emmy-winning, Annie 2007 nominee, Nasos Vakalis.
