Canonisation of Hieromonk Athanasios by the Ecumenical Patriarchate

The Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, chaired by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, at the meeting of 16 November 2023, decided to canonise Hieromonk Athanasios (Chamakiotis), founder of the Holy Monastery of Panagia Faneromeni in Rodopolis, Attica, and priest for many years of the historic Church of Panagia Nerantziotissa in Maroussi.

The celebration of his memory was set for 17 August of each year, the day of his venerable repose in the Lord, and October 23, the day of the translation of his holy relics.
