Bishop Bartholomew visiting Catholic Archbishop of Tasmania

His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis visited the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Tasmania the Most Reverend Julian Porteous on Saturday, 19 March, 2022, accompanied by Reverend Father Dimitrios Katsis, Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Hobart.

His Grace as a representative of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia thanked the Most Rev for his time and his welcoming.

Bishop Bartholomew spoke about the importance of working together as the lungs of the church, the East and West.

Moreover they spoke about the Dark Mofo festival in Hobart a festival that in the past was quite blasphemous towards Christ and the importance of prayer and worship in dealing with this event.

In addition Bishop Bartholomew thanked the Most Reverend for his congratulatory letter upon his recent episcopal consecration and asked that he keeps him in his prayers.

Furthermore Bishop Bartholomew informed the Most Reverend that His Eminence will be visiting Tasmania and that it would be a joy and delight for him to be present at the celebratory events in honour of His Eminence.

Bishop Bartholomew presented an icon of Christ to the Roman Catholic Archbishop who in turn was quite appreciative. The Most Reverend spoke about his love for the Orthodox Church Fathers, in particular St Athanasios who defended the faith of Christ.

The Most Reverend thanked His Grace for the visit and asked to convey his love and respect towards His Eminence Archbishop Makarios, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.
