Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis visits the Governor General of Australia

With the Blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis visited Government House in Canberra for an event organised by the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture. 

Following the event, His Grace had the opportunity to speak with the Governor General of Australia, His Excellency the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd).

Firstly His Grace conveyed the love and sincere respect of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and invited His Excellency to visit the Archbishop at the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese in Sydney.

Moreover, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew informed the Governor General of two significant events that will take place in 2024. Firstly, the upcoming visit of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to Australia, in October next year, and the 100 year anniversary since the establishment of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. 

His Excellency thanked His Grace for his presence at Government House and the opportunity to speak with him and in turn conveyed his best wishes to our beloved Archbishop. In addition the Governor General stated that he was very much looking forward to seeing His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in our blessed country of Australia.
