Archbishop Makarios of Australia Commends Head of School for Lifelong Dedication to Education and Greek Orthodox Faith at All Saints Grammar

On 16 May, the community of All Saints Grammar came together to celebrate Mrs Lillis, the Head of School of All Saints Grammar for her 30 years of service. The commemoration began with a full school Liturgy at All Saints Church, where His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia recognised Mrs Lillis’s lifelong commitment to education and the preservation of Hellenic culture and the Greek Orthodox Faith. Mrs Lillis was presented with an icon, and the resounding affirmation of ‘Axia’ echoed by all in attendance.

Speeches and shared memories emphasised Mrs Lillis’s profound impact on the All Saints Grammar community. Her exemplary leadership has shaped the lives of countless students.

Although not in attendance, The Honorable Sophie Cotsis MP acknowledged Mrs Lillis in parliament, saying, “I ask members to join me in congratulating Mrs. Elfa Lillis on the remarkable milestone of celebrating 30 years as Principal of All Saints Grammar School in Belmore. Beginning her career as a teacher and now leading the school with passion and dedication, Mrs. Lillis embodies commitment and excellence. She is much loved by the school community, who are all immensely proud to benefit from her leadership and guidance. I wish Mrs. Lillis all the success as she continues to inspire students and future leaders.”

Mrs Lillis expressed her gratitude, saying, “I’m truly honoured that His Eminence is here to celebrate this momentous occasion. People ask me how I’ve done it; it’s because I’ve got a wonderful family and I also owe it to my fantastic leadership team, staff and wonderful students.” It’s been a privilege to serve you”.

Mrs Lillis’s journey at All Saints Grammar has been defined by a life long commitment to education and the preservation of Hellenic culture and the Greek Orthodox Faith. Her passion for nurturing young minds and fostering an environment of excellence has left an indelible mark on the entire school community. Throughout her tenure, Mrs Lillis has exemplified exceptional leadership, both in the classroom and as the Head of School. Under her guidance, All Saints Grammar has thrived, embodying a culture of academic achievement, cultural enrichment, and spiritual growth.

As the community celebrates this momentous occasion, there is a sense of optimism and excitement for the future. Guided by Mrs Lillis’s continued leadership, alongside the dedicated leadership team and staff, All Saints Grammar is poised to embark on a new chapter of growth and success.
