AEK awarded the Golden Double-Headed Eagle to the Ecumenical Patriarch

Mr. Dimitris Melissanidis, the current owner of AEK Athens Football Club, met with His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at a central hotel in Athens, where he presented His All-Holiness with the Golden Double-Headed Eagle.

Dimitris Melissanidis met today with the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew as part of his visit to Athens. The meeting took place at the Grand Bretagne Hotel.

The Ecumenical Patriarch was honoured by AEK Football Club with the Medal of Honour – The Golden Double-Headed Eagle and the flag of the Club. The two discussed the 100th anniversary of AEK and the Ecumenical Patriarch was briefed on all that has been done and will be done as part of the celebrations, as well as the Museum of Greek Refugees and the History Museum of AEK, which will be inaugurated next Saturday.

His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew also had the opportunity to thank Mr. Dimitris Melissanidis for his generous donation for the construction of the Holy Treasury (Museum) of the Patriarchate.
