On Sunday, 3 September 2023, the Matins and the Poly-Hierarchical Divine Liturgy were celebrated with due splendour for the feast day of the translation of the Holy Relics of Saint Nectarios of Aegina the Wonderworker, in the very large Holy Church in Aegina.
His Eminence Metropolitan Hariton of Elassona presided over the Divine Liturgy, and also delivered the feast day sermon, making extensive reference to the importance of honouring and venerating the Holy Relics. He noted the disagreement of the Orthodox Church on the cremation of the dead.
The festive Doxology followed and, before that, His Eminence Metropolitan Ephraim of Hydra, Spetses and Aegina, offered thanks to all those who honoured the holy memory of the translation of the Holy Relics of Saint Nectarios.
Finally, a small procession took place around the large Church of Saint Nectarios and a Trisagion Memorial Service was conducted at the grave of the late Metropolitan Ierotheos of Hydra, builder of the Holy Church of Saint Nectarios.
The Holy Services were broadcast by the Radio Stations of the Church of Greece and the Church of Piraeus.
The Holy Monastery offered a festive breakfast to the Hierarchs, Priests and Local Authorities who were present for the feast day celebrations.
