Advancing infrastructure, fire safety, flood protection, and monument restoration efforts at Mount Athos

The progress of important projects related to port infrastructure, fire safety, flood protection, restoration of monuments, and construction of infrastructure projects on Mount Athos was approved at the meeting of the Council for the Preservation of the Athonite Heritage, which was attended by the new Governor of Mount Athos, Mr. Anastasios Mitsialis, the officials of the organisation and the members of the Board of Directors, held on Tuesday, 16 April 2024.

The Ministry of Macedonia and Thrace, through the Central Council for the Preservation of the Athonite Heritage, has been continuously supporting the projects of Mount Athos for more than 40 years, in close cooperation with the Holy Community and the Civil Administration of Mount Athos. During these years, it has approved and implemented more than 2,000 projects in the Athonite State (construction, port, energy, forestry, and other projects).
