The Central Philoptochos of the Archdiocesan District of Adelaide is organising, on October 2nd, a large fundraising event-dinner for the newly acquired church in the Bowden area of Adelaide, which will be the Cathedral of the Archdiocesan District and, subsequently, the center of the ecclesiastical life of the Orthodox of South Australia. The event, which is entitled “Anatolia, light of the East”, also aims to pay tribute to the victims of the Asia Minor Catastrophe.

The following is the relevant announcement from the office of the Archdiocesan District of Adelaide, with information about the possibility of reserving seats for those interested:

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the Archdiocesan District of Adelaide will be hosting a historic fundraising dinner for Adelaide’s exciting new Cathedral product.

Titled “Anatolia: Light of the East”, it will be a dinner with performances, in light of the 100th anniversary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe, to honour the millions of Orthodox Christians who fell victims of the Genocide in Pontos and Asia Minor.

A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the new Cathedral Church for our city and district by His Grace Bishop Silouan of Sinope. This auspicious occasion is truly gift from God for all Orthodox Christians and will mark a historical moment in the life of our Church. To God be glory for all things!

The dinner will be on Sunday 2nd of October 2022, 6:00pm, at the hall of St Nectarios Monastery, Croydon Park, with tickets available from the Central Philoptochos.
