Metropolitan of Sweden: Protopresbyter Seraphim Farasoglou was an exemplary family man

His Eminence Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden and All Scandinavia, being informed of the passing away of the Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne, Seraphim Farasoglou, offered a prayer for the repose of his soul at St. George’s Cathedral in Stockholm, while with feelings of sorrow and hope, he informed the flock of the Mother Church of Constantinople in Scandinavia about this sad event.

The Metropolitan said: “An exemplary family man, he was fortunate with his wife Vasiliki to create a family with Christian principles, while they did not hesitate to offer to the Church daughters, dedicated to the monastic order.”

He stressed: “The late Protopresbyter Seraphim Farasoglou, receiving the two degrees of Priesthood in the courtyards of the Mother Church, invited by the late Metropolitan Paul of Amaseia, joined the Clergy of the Holy Metropolis of Sweden and All Scandinavia on December 1, 1974, and he was appointed Hierarchical Head of the Holy Church of St. John the Theologian in Stockholm, following the Cathedral of St. George in Stockholm, while assuming the duties of Secretary and Protosyncellus of the Holy Metropolis.”

“I also have to express, among other things, my gratitude for his goodwill to send me valuable archival and historical material for the preparation of my study, titled: ‘The Missionary Ministry of Archimandrite Eusebius Vittis in Scandinavia, 1965-1980′”, he added.

“From 1987 to 2021, he served in the Holy Metropolis of Peristeri as Hierarchical Head of the Parish Church of the Holy Archangels (former), where he devoted himself to the ministry of the word of God,” he added.

“We wish your soul to mingle with the Angels and the Saints, at the heavenly altar, where the sound of pure celebrants shout, Lord, glory to you!,” the Metropolitan wished.
