The opening night of the First Festival of Choirs of Byzantine Music of Larissa was a success

At the presentation, the music-loving audience first enjoyed the “School of Byzantine Music” of the Holy Metropolis of Larissa and Tyrnavos, under the Direction of its Director, Mr. Ioannis Mavromatis. The students and graduates presented Hymns of the Resurrection.

After the presentation of the School Choir, the Degrees and Diplomas of the students who graduated during the past year were awarded. Then the “Angelic Choir” under the Direction of Mr. Georgios Karagiannakis, presented its rich program with Resurrection Hymns and Hymns of the Saint.

The musical evening was completed by the “Choir of Chanters of the Holy Church of Saint George, Nicaea, Larissa”, under the Direction of Mr. Theodoros Xionis. The choir of Nicaea presented Resurrection Hymns of the Sundays of the Pentecostarion.

The event was prefaced and presented by Dr. Elina Diamantis. His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos, in his brief greeting, thanked the contributors, and wished that the institution of the Festival would be established and that new choirs would be added in time to come.
