His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis emphasised the value of cooperation to the students of the Greek Orthodox Schools
Representing His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis accompanied by His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta, and clergy from around Australia conducted a Doxology Service for the commencement of The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia National Schools Event.
Even though this blessed initiative has been running for the last 20 years under the auspices of our Holy Archdiocese. His Eminence Archbishop Makarios has embraced it and taken it to another level of spiritual unity and fellowship.
The initiative provides all the Orthodox Schools from around the Nation an opportunity to gather, participate and compete in a 3 day programme of sport, culture and language. This year, Oakleigh Grammar, is hosting the event from May 2nd to May 5th 2023.
The Doxology Service took place on the evening of May 2nd 2023, at the Parish of Saints Anargiri in Oakleigh. Following the Service, His Grace Bishop Kyriakos, greeted the students, teachers and principals, conveying the paternal love and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios.
His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis reminded students of the opportunity of fellowship that they have during this period. He recalled the memorable moments in any sporting competition, particularly in the Olympic Games, when an athlete who is struggling to make it to the finish line is supported by other athletes and taken to the end. He encouraged the students to ‘lift each other up’ and to work together to achieve their goals.
