Festive Vespers at Saint Nicholas Church in Larissa, Greece
On 5 December 2022, on the eve of the Feast of Saint Nicholas Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, the wonderworker, a Great Festive Vespers was magnificently celebrated, at the majestic Holy Church of Saint Nicholas in Larissa.
At the Festive Vespers of the feast day, His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos officiated, joined also by several priests of the Metropolis led by the Protosyncellus and Proistamenos of the Parish Church, Archimandrite Ignatios Mourtzanos.
In His sermon, Metropolitan Ieronymos referred to the incident of Saint Nicholas at the First Ecumenical Council, which highlighted him as an “image of meekness”.
After the service of the Five Loaves (Artoklasia), His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos tonsured Fr Vasileios Tziolas an Oikonomos, who is the parish priest of Saint George Church in Moschohori, who served until his priestly ordination at the celebrating parish of Saint Nicholas.
Crowds of faithful Christians, including Larissa Member of Parliament Ms. Styliani Biziou, the head of the major opposition party of the Municipality of Larissa, Mr. Athanasios Mamakos, the Regional Councillor Mr. Athanasios Paidis, the candidate for Member of Parliament Mr. Christos Kapetanos, all venerated the holy and sacred icon of Saint Nicholas, as well as the grace-flowing piece of his holy Relic, while the divine services will culminate tomorrow with the celebration of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy.
