Saint Paisios – “From Farasa to Heaven” – New historical, biographical series on Mega TV

A modern Saint. An emblematic figure who enlightened many people with his spiritual speech.

The new historical-biographical series “Saint Paisios”, which comes to MEGA TV with a select cast of actors, follows the course and life of Saint Paisios, from his birth until the moment he decided to become a monk. The screenplay is written by George Tsiakkas and directed by Stamos Tsamis.

The series presents the life of Saint Paisios and his family and records his path to monasticism.

The shooting took place in places where Saint Paisios lived, such as Konitsa and Mount Athos, Greece.

The premise of the series:

The story begins with the birth of Saint Paisios, born with his wordly name to Arsenios Eznepidis, in Farasa of Cappadocia (Asia minor – now modern day Turkey)

After the Treaty of Lausanne, the family of little Arsenios is uprooted and takes the road of refuge to Greece. Little Arsenios grows up in Konitsa, Epirus, with his grandmother and mother, who pass on their deep faith in Christ and love for fellow human beings.

He grows up with the stories about Saint Arsenios and the desire to follow the monastic life from a young age ignites in him.

In 1945 he enlisted in the army where he served as a radio operator. With his discharge from the army he visits Mount Athos. Soon, however, he returned to Konitsa for family reasons and remained there for three years.

Saint Paisios finally leaves for Mount Athos in March 1953 and ends at the Monastery of Esfigmenos. After three years he moves to the the Monastery of Filotheou, where he becomes a monk and takes the name Paisios. He sends a photo of himself to his mother with which he says goodbye and tells her that he will now have the Virgin Mary, Theotokos, for his mother.
