4.8-magnitude earthquake hits Mount Athos

A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck the Mount Athos monastic community in northeastern Greece on Saturday afternoon.

The earthquake’s epicenter was located 8 kilometers northwest of the Karyes settlement, at the heart of the Athos Peninsula. The focal depth was estimated at 5 kilometers, according to the Geodynamic Institute.
