Youth Night in the Archdiocesan District of Northcote
With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and as part of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, the first event dedicated to the youth was organised by the Archdiocesan District of Northcote.
The event was held in the outdoor area of the Parish of the Transfiguration of Our Lord in Thomastown and more than 200 young men and women took part.
His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Northcote, directed a short greeting to all the youth in which he conveyed the love and blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, while also making note of this year’s centennial anniversary of the local Church. He pointed out to the youth that they are all called to write the first pages of the new chapter of the Archdiocese, while they all together exclaimed that they are ready for the future.
In addition, His Grace informed the young men and women about the Apostolic Visit of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to Australia, next October, and emphasised the importance of participating in His reception.
Finally, an update on the Archdiocesan District of Northcote’s Youth Conference was given, which will be held next September. It will be a three-day event dedicated to young people and will include a rich program, as announced by Bishop Evmenios.
