Wonder-working Holy Icon of Panagia Soumela conveyed to Saint Dimitrios’ Cathedral of Ambelokipi, Athens

The faithful in Athens on Tuesday joyously greeted the arrival of the wonder-working icon of the Panagia Soumela, which was conveyed from the Monastery of Mt. Vermio, in northern Greece, in a splendorous procession to the St. Dimitrios Cathedral in the Ambelokipi district of Athens.

The Holy Icon was conveyed by His Eminence Metropolitan Panteleimon of Veria, Naousa and Kampania, and welcomed on the part of Archbishop Ieronymos by the Bishop of Evripou, His Grace Chrysostomos.

The Holy Icon will remain at the St. Dimitrios Cathedral for veneration by the faithful and clergy until October 28, 2022.
