Wildfire breaks out in Milos island, burns near the airport
A wildfire broke out in Milos island, on Tuesday. The fire is burning at three fronts and is currently within close distance of the east Aegean island’s airport.
Some 47 firefighters with five vehicles have been dispatched to the scene, while two aircrafts and two helicopters are assisting from the air. Additionally, 25 members of the Milos Volunteer Rescue Team are also present in the area.
At the moment, the fire does not threaten houses but the strong wings inhibit firefighting efforts.
A message from 112 was sent to people visiting Tsigrado beach to evacuate.
