Visitors to Athens have more than doubled since 2008

The number of tourists visiting Athens has more than doubled in the last 17 years.

From the 636,615 travelers who visited in January 2008, international passenger traffic at Athens Airport reached 1,323,915 in January this year, for an increase of 108%

This is a trend that seems to be continuing: International traffic at Athens Airport last month increased by 18.7% compared to January 2024. In January last year, foreign travelers had increased by 12.7% compared to the corresponding month of 2023.

This is also obvious to anyone walking the streets of the Greek capital, with many visitors arriving from the other side of the Atlantic.
