Visit of the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff to the Metropolitan of France

On Wednesday, 9 April 2025, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS), General Dimitrios Choupis, paid an official visit to France following an invitation from his French counterpart, Chief of Defence General Thierry Burkhard.

During his visit, the Chief of HNDGS met with His Eminence Metropolitan Dimitrios of France, with whom he had the opportunity to discuss issues of mutual interest, as well as the initiatives undertaken by the Metropolis in support of the Greek Orthodox community in France. He then visited the Embassy of Greece in France, where he was welcomed by the Ambassador of Greece, His Excellency Mr. Antonios Alexandridis, with whom he discussed the relations between the two countries.

The official welcoming ceremony for the Chief of HNDGS took place at the French Armed Forces Headquarters, hosted by his counterpart. This was followed by a bilateral meeting during which they discussed issues of common interest concerning the strategic cooperation between the two countries, European defense and security, the prevailing geopolitical situation, as well as current developments in the wider region of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East.
