Vespers of Love in Perth
With the Blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea, assisted by the clergy of the Archdiocesan District of Perth, officiated at the Vespers of Love which took place at the Holy Church of Saints Constantine and Helene, Perth.
The Vespers of Love is a service in which the Gospel reading (John 20:19-25) depicts the first appearance of the risen Lord to his disciples, and which is recited in many languages symbolising that the glorious resurrection of Christ is proclaimed to all the nations of the world.
His Grace Bishop Elpidios commenced the Gospel reading in the Greek language and which was then followed with the same passage being recited in the English, Latin, Italian, Finnish, Japanese, Spanish, French, Afrikaans and Bulgarian languages.
At the conclusion of the service His Grace conveyed to all the paternal love and paschal wishes from His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia. This was then followed with the chanting of the Archbishop’s Anthem (Fimi).
