Vespers of Forgiveness at the Archdiocesan District of Canberra
On sunday evening, 6 March, 2022, His Grace celebrated the Vespers of Forgiveness at the church of St Nicholas in Canberra.
His Grace was assisted by all the priests of the Archdiocesan District of Canberra.
In his sermon His Grace emphasised the importance of Great Lent as a period of renewal and change. Through prayer and fasting the goal is to meet Christ. Moreover His Grace placed importance on the virtues of love, aims giving and patience however we must not fall into the trap of hubris and pride like the Pharisee in the parable of the Pharisee and the Publican.
In conclusion His Grace asked for forgiveness from the congregation and asked that everyone prays for him and the clergy in general.
Furthermore he introduced the priests of his District in particular speaking on Father Dimitrios Katsis from Tasmania and Father Kyriakos Theologo from Goulburn.
His Grace conveyed the love and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and asked the congregation to pray for His Eminence for God to provide him health and strength to continue to serve our Church.
