Vatican: Pope Francis had a peaceful night

The Vatican Press Office announced yesterday that Pope Francis “had a peaceful night and took his breakfast while seated in the armchair of his room” at the Gemelli Catholic University Hospital in Rome.
Meanwhile, reports surfaced regarding the visit of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to the Pontiff yesterday. According to the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, the meeting lasted approximately twenty minutes. During their conversation, Pope Francis reportedly remarked to Meloni: “Some prayed for me to die, but the Lord kept me here.”
The Pope’s comment, delivered with his characteristic humor, reflects his resilient spirit amid ongoing health challenges. Pope Francis has been hospitalised due to a respiratory infection and is receiving treatment at the Gemelli Hospital.
A new update on the Argentine Pope’s health condition is expected later today.
