Ukrainian President Zelensky meets with Ecumenical Patriarchate delegation

The President of Ukraine Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyi had a meeting with the delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate: His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Winnipeg of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, His Eminence Metropolitan Job of Pisidia, Patriarchal Deacon Epiphanius and His Grace Bishop Michael of Komana, Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarch in Ukraine. Their visit was part of the celebrations marking the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.

The head of the Ukrainian state thanked the representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for their prayers for Ukraine and all Ukrainians.

The President noted that the state is doing everything possible to overcome the challenges facing the Church in Ukraine.

“It is clear that these challenges did not arise overnight and did not appear today. For our part, we will do everything to ensure that there is indeed stability and peace in this area as well. This is very important for us,” added President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

The representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarchate assured that the Church and His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will continue to pray and support Ukraine.

“So that a just peace may reign on the Ukrainian land. And that peace may also reign in Ukrainian Orthodoxy. Our mission here is to show love and support. And we are with you, and we will cooperate on all these issues for the good of the Ukrainian people,” commented Metropolitan Hilarion.

The President reminded that Ukraine is waiting for the visit of His All-Holiness and emphasised that it is very important for the country.
