Tsiknopempti celebrations in Archdiocesan District of Canberra

On Thursday, 24 February 2022, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis attended a ‘tsiknopempti’ function held by the Parish of St Dimitrios in Queanbeyan. 

Present at the function was His Excellency the Greek Ambassador Mr Papacostas as well as other members of the Greek embassy.

His Grace thanked Father Iakovos for organising the evening. Moreover he emphasised the importance of fasting as a discipline in coming closer to God.

His Grace pointed out that true fasting is not only foods but from our thoughts, words and actions. If we do not have love there is no point in fasting from food. His Grace on behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios wished everyone a blessed lenten period.
