The Service of the Akathist Hymn officiated by His Grace Bishop Emilianos of Meloa

On Friday, 31 March 2023, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Emilianos of Meloa officiated at the Service of the Akathist Hymn to the Theotokos at the Church of Saint George in Brisbane, joined also by Parish Priest Father Dimitri Tsakas, Assistant Priest Father Stavros Karvelas and Deacon Christos Karafotias.

His Grace Bishop Emilianos led a full and engaged congregation for the Service. Following the Salutations to Our Lady, Bishop Emilianos shared insightful and moving thoughts about our relationship with the Mother of God, the Theotokos, and her special role in directing us toward her Son, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  The congregation received His Grace’s words with enthusiasm and love.

His Grace also conveyed to the congregation the love and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, and on his behalf prayed for all to finish the Lenten struggle with peace in their hearts and with their eyes directed towards the glorious resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
