The Service of The Akathist Hymn at the Ecumenical Patriarchate

On Friday, 4 April 2025, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew officiated at the Service of the Akathist Hymn which took place at the venerable Patriarchal Church of Saint George, Phanar. Also present for the Akathist Service were Their Eminences, Metropolitan Meliton of Philadelphia, Metropolitan Irinaios of Myriophytos and Peristasis, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Myra, Metropolitan Theoliptos of Iconium, Metropolitan Ioakeim of Bursa and Metropolitan Theodoros of Seleucia.

His All-Holiness read the first stanza of the Salutations and the next three were read successively by Their Eminences, Metropolitan of Philadelphia, Metropolitan of Myriophytos and Peristasis, and Metropolitan of Myra.

The holy sermon was preached by the Patriarchal Deacon Fr Barnabas.

Also present and joined in prayer were Mr. George-Spyridon Mamalos, head of the Public Diplomacy Office of the Consulate General of Greece in Constantinople, as a representative of the Consul General who is absent abroad, and a multitude of believers, including groups of teachers and students from schools in Greece.
