The search for the missing monk continues on Mount Athos

Investigations continue on Mount Athos to find a 60-year-old monk, who has been missing for the last 24 hours.

His disappearance was reported yesterday afternoon, at the police station of Mount Athos, in Karyes, by a monk of the cell, where the 60-year-old lived (he belongs to the Monastery of the Great Lavra).

Police officers with a specially trained dog participated in the investigations, while the Fire Brigade was also asked for assistance.

Volunteers – rescuers of OFKATH are expected to visit the area today to assist in the search with technical means, such as drones and thermal cameras.
