The Lamentations Service at the Phanar

His Eminence, Patriarchal Vicar, Metropolitan Maximos of Sylivria, on the evening of Great and Holy Friday, 14 April 2023, officiated at the Matins of Great and Holy Saturday (The Lamentations of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ) at the venerable Patriarchal Church of Saint George at the Phanar.

Joining Metropolitan Maximos for the Lamentations Service were Their Eminences, Metropolitan Theolyptos of Icomium and Metropolitan Ioakeim of Bursa.

Also present in prayer were the The Ambassador of Greece in Ankara, Mr. Christodoulos Lazaris, Mr. Stavros Christodoulidis, Consul of Greece in Constantinople, other officials and many believers from the City and abroad.

The procession of the Epitaphios took place according to Church tradition, around the courtyard of the Patriarchal Church, with the participation of the members of the Patriarchal Court.

The Patriarchal Vicar, Metropolitan Maximos of Sylivria, on the morning of Great and Holy Friday, officiated at the Patriarchal Church, during the Service of the Vespers of the Apokathelosis.
