The Holy Cincture of the Theotokos solemnly conveyed to Greece’s shipping ministry for veneration

The wonder-working Holy Cincture of the Theotokos, the All-Holy Virgin Mary, was solemnly conveyed on Friday morning to Greece’s shipping and island policy ministry, in the port of Piraeus.

The matronal Holy Relic of the Virgin Mary’s earthly existence was conveyed for veneration to the ministry by the resident Metropolitan of Piraeus, His Eminence Seraphim, and Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, along with Vatopedi Fathers.

The Holy Relic had been conveyed to the St. Nicholas Cathedral of Piraeus since November 5 for veneration by the faithful and clerics.

The Holy Cincture was received by Minister Yannis Plakiotakis and the Commandant of Greece’s coast guard, Vice-Adm. Georgios Alexandrakis, along with other ministry and coast guard officials, while the Hellenic Coast Guard band and an honour guard paid respect towards to the venerable Holy Relic.

Meanwhile, on Thursday evening Elder Ephraim spoke at a cultural center in the west Athens district of Ilion on the subject of “Athonite Messages”, during an event organised by the local chapter of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association, or AHEPA.

Numerous clerics, office-holders and faithful attended the address, with Elder Ephraim greeted and introduced by the president of the Ilion chapter of AHEPA, Prof. Ioannis Panagiotopoulos, a lecturer of theology at the University of Athens.
