The first celebration in the new Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Jeonju

On August 14 and 15, 2022, the feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos was celebrated for the first time in the newly built Church in the city of Jeonju.

Praise and infinite thanksgiving to the Lord and His Holy Mother for the completion of the church as well as the adjacent Community Center. The hearts of those present were flooded with emotion.

Besides the celebrating Parish faithful, believers came from Parish of St. Nicholas in Seoul, and from the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Busan most of whom were deeply touched for seeing the new church for the first time and were full of admiration and very excited by its beauty.

During the Artoclasia of the Great Vespers, as well as during the Divine Liturgy, the names of the donors and benefactors for the reconstruction and completion of the project were commemorated, for good health and for the rest of their souls for those who have departed.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the procession of the holy icon of the Dormition of the Theotokos took place at the church courtyard.

Both, on the evening of the previous day as well at noon of the feast day, a joint Agape dinner and meal was offered to everyone with the participation of all the faithful and catechumens.

In all the devotional gatherings, but also during the dinner of the night before and the lunch that followed on the feast day, emphasis was placed on the preaching of the divine Word with comments on the feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos and on the spiritual legacy left to the Orthodox Church of Korea by the late Metropolitan Soterios.
