The ‘final farewell’ to Christos Yannaras

On Thursday, 29 August 2024, at the Church of Saint Irene on Aiolou Street in Athens, Greece, the funeral service for the late Professor Mr. Christos Yannaras was conducted. His Eminence Metropolitan Amphilochios of Thera, Amorgos and Nisoi presided over the funeral service, while also present joined in prayer from the Holy Sanctuary was His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece.

Present to “bid farewell” to the great Greek intellectual, professor of philosophy and writer, before his burial at the 1st Cemetery of Athens, were hierarchs of the Church, distinguished personalities such as the former President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos and People of science and art, as well as relatives and friends of the deceased.
