The Feast of Theophany at the Patriarchate of Jerusalem
The Feast of Theophany, a Great Feast of the Lord, was celebrated on Sunday, 6th/19th January 2025, with a Patriarchal Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Initially, at the Catholicon, the Service of the Great Sanctification of the Waters took place, presided over by His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, with the participation of the Hierarchs and Hieromonks of the Patriarchate.
Following this, the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy took place at the Most Holy and Life-giving Tomb, with His Beatitude and Their Eminences Archbishops Aristarchos of Constantina and Theodosios of Sebastia, Hieromonks of the Holy Sepulchre, Arabic-speaking Priests, the representative of the Moscow Patriarchate, Archimandrite Vassianos and the representative of the Romanian Patriarchate, Archimandrite Ioannis along with priests from other Orthodox countries concelebrating. The choir sang under the lead of the Chief Cantor, Deacon Eustathios Tsoumanis, and Hierodeacon Simeon, with the presence of the Consul General of Greece in Jerusalem, Mr Dimitrios Angelopoulos.
After the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude sanctified everyone with the Holy Water and made the sign of the Cross over them with the original Precious Cross.
Upon the conclusion of the service, the Patriarchal entourage ascended to the Patriarchate, where His Beatitude offered prayers for the sanctification and enlightenment of all, marking the Feast of the Theophany.
