The Feast of the Nativity of the Lord celebrated in the capital of Ghana

With reverence, devotion and enthusiasm, the Great Feast of Christmas was celebrated in Accra, Ghana, on the 25 December 2024.

The Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Christ was filled with Orthodox Ghanaians, who melodiously chanted the wonderful hymns of the feast of the Nativity of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

The Eucharistic Synaxis was presided over by the local Shepherd, His Eminence Metropolitan Daniel of Accra, who celebrated the festal Divine Liturgy together with the Priests of the Church.

According to the tradition of the Alexandrian Church, the Christmas Encyclical of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa was read.

After the Divine Liturgy, the faithful sang local carols and Christmas songs, while His Eminence offered gifts to the young people of the Cathedral’s Sunday School.

Afterwards, outside the Church, sweets and icons of the Nativity of the Lord were offered to all the faithful Christians.
