The Feast of Christmas in the Holy Archdiocese of Qatar
With due ecclesiastical splendour and sacred reverence, Christmas was celebrated in Doha, Qatar.
On Tuesday, 11th/24th December 2024, in the evening, the Vespers Service for Saint Spyridon was chanted at the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos, followed by Matins, and subsequently the Divine Liturgy, which was celebrated in Arabic, Greek, and English.
On Wednesday morning, 12th/25th December 2024, at the Holy Cathedral, Matins and the Divine Liturgy were performed in Greek, Arabic, and Romanian, with the participation of the faithful of the local Church.
On Monday morning, 24th December 2024/6th January 2025, the Great Hours of Christmas were read. In the evening, the Vespers Service, Matins, and Divine Liturgy were held at the Holy Cathedral in Slavonic, Serbian, and Arabic, with the prayerful participation of the congregation, in the presence of His Excellency, the Ambassador of Serbia, Mr Aleksandar Petrović, along with members of the Russian and Serbian Embassies. After the Divine Liturgy, various refreshments were offered in the hall of the Holy Church.
The services were led by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Qatar, with the concelebration of Archdeacon Michael Theocharidou, the bearer of the Cross. During the Vespers of the Eve and the Divine Liturgy of the Feast, the hymns were chanted by the choir of the Holy Church in Arabic, Greek, and Slavonic.
In lieu of a sermon, the Christmas Message of His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem was read in Greek, Arabic, Serbian, and English.
