The Feast Day of the Monastery of Panagia Gorgoepikoos in Victoria
On Tuesday, 1 October 2024, His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Melbourne, made his way to the city of Geelong in Victoria and liturgised on the Feast Day of the Synaxis of the Most Holy Mother of God Gorgoepikoos, at the celebrating Holy Monastery of Panagia Gorgoepikoos in the Lovely Banks region.
His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Melbourne, who was accompanied by a multitude of clergy from the Holy Dioceses of Melbourne and Chora, was welcomed by the Abbess of the Holy Monastery, Gerontissa Kallistheni. Hundreds of faithful believers, from all over Victoria, flocked to the celebrating Holy Monastery to participate in the feast day.
During the Divine Liturgy, His Grace appropriately spoke to the pilgrims about the Icon of Our Lady of Gorgoepikoos, explaining among other things that “Gorgoepikoos” means “she who is quick to hear”. Bishop Kyriakos also explained the origin of the miraculous Icon, speaking in Greek, and also in English, as there were many young believers among the congregation.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Kyriakos conveyed the blessings and wishes of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
After the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, a traditional festival took place in the premises of the Holy Monastery where delicious food was offered to everyone.
