The Feast Day of Panagia Myrtidiotissa and Saint Kyriakos the Anchorite in Brisbane
With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Brisbane visited the Parish – Community of Saint George in Brisbane and celebrated the Liturgy for the feast day of St Kyriakos the Anachorite.
Assisting His Grace was Assistant Parish Priest and graduate of St Andrews Greek Orthodox Theological College, Father Stavros Karvelas.
At the conclusion of the service a procession took place with the icon of Panagia of the Myrtles (Panagia Myrtidiotissa) organised by the Kytherian Association of Queensland.
His Grace conveyed the love and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and congratulated the Kytherian Association on behalf of His Eminence for upholding their faith in Christ, honouring the Theotokos and preserving our customs and traditions.
Furthermore His Grace made mention of the significant Apostolic visit of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to Australia this coming week, emphasising that Australia as a whole will be blessed by the presence of such an esteemed Hierarch of the Church. Moreover, His Grace thanked the people of Queensland for showing their love towards our beloved Patriarch by travelling to Sydney for the various celebrations.
In conclusion His Grace wished Father Stavros belated best wishes for his Name day, stating that Father Stavros is a humble cleric who has a genuine love for the Church, a cleric who shows obedience to his ecclesiastical authority and works tirelessly for the service of the human person.
