The Ecumenical Patriarch will be declared an Honorary Citizen of Pallini, Attica

​The upcoming first official visit of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to Pallini, Attica was the central topic of the meeting of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Mr. Giorgos Kotsiras, with the Mayor of Pallini, Mr. Christos Aidoni, on Tuesday, 17 September 2024.

At the meeting, which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Mayor of Pallini informed Mr. Kotsiras about the honour shown to him by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in accepting the invitation addressed to him and to officially visit the Municipality of Pallini.

At the meeting, where all the details concerning the arrival and reception of His All-Holiness at the Town Hall of Pallini, as well as the ceremony, during which His All-Holiness will be declared an Honorary Citizen of Pallini, were discussed, His Eminence Metropolitan Kyrillos of Imbros and Tenedos, as well as the Deputy Mayor of International Relations and the Community of Anthousa, Mr. Triantafyllos Koutsikouris, were also present.

The first, historic official visit of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to the Municipality of Pallini and specifically to the City Hall of the city will take place on Thursday, 26 September 2024.

In his message, the Mayor of Pallini Mr. Christos Aidonis addresses the following open invitation for the reception of the Ecumenical Patriarch: “September 26, 2024 will be seen as a golden page in the history of the region of Anthousa, Gerakas and Pallini. On this great day, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will make his first official, historic and blessed visit to the Municipality of Pallini. His All-Holiness will be named an honorary citizen and will share with us the joy and honour of belonging to our Municipality. It will be a special honour and joy to have your presence in this very important moment for our Municipality. So we respectfully invite you to share this joy and blessing with us.”

In detail, the program of the visit of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to the Municipality of Pallini on 26 September 2024:

• Arrival and reception of His All-Holiness at the Town Hall of Pallini, at 8:00pm.
• Address by the Mayor Mr. Christos Aidonis.
• Reply addressed by His All-Holiness.
• Festive sitting of the Municipal Council in the presence of the Patriarch.
• Proclamation of His All-Holiness as Honorary Citizen of Pallini.
• Awarding of the golden key of the city to His All-Holiness.
• Naming of “Imvrou” street By His All-Holiness.
• Ceremony of the planting of a tree by the Patriarch.

The event will be accompanied musically by the students of the traditional music faculty of the Experimental Music High School of Pallini.
