The Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff meets with the Patriarch of Alexandria

From August 20 to 21, 2024, General Dimitrios Choupis, Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, made an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt at the invitation of his counterpart, Lieutenant General Ahmed Fathi Ibrahim Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces.

During his visit on Tuesday, 20 August 2024, General Dimitrios Choupis visited the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of Saint George in Cairo, the seat of the Patriarchate of Alexandria. He met with His Beatitude Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa, where they discussed issues of mutual interest, particularly focusing on the Patriarchate’s significant pastoral and missionary efforts across the continent.

Later, General Choupis held discussions with the Greek Ambassador to Egypt, His Excellency Mr. Nikolaos Papageorgiou, addressing current developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the ongoing relations between Greece and Egypt.
