The Archbishop of Australia meets with the Minister of Education and Religious Affairs of Greece

His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, held a meeting with the Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports of Greece, Ms. Sofia Zacharaki, on Friday, 11 April 2025.

His Eminence visited Ms. Zacharaki in her office, at the Ministry of Education, in Athens, and had the opportunity to wish her well on her recent assumption of duties.

During the cordial and productive discussion that followed, the Archbishop conveyed the wishes and blessings of the Ecumenical Patriarch and, subsequently, issues of concern to the Greek Diaspora of the fifth Continent were examined and it was agreed to maintain and deepen the cooperation between the Ministry and the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.

The Minister congratulated and thanked Archbishop Makarios for the multidimensional work carried out by the Orthodox Church, under his guidance, for the benefit of the Greek Community in Australia, while His Eminence expressed warm thanks to Ms. Zacharaki and, through her, to the Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Greek Government, for their continued interest in and support for the Greek diaspora.
