The Annunciation of the Theotokos celebrated at dedicated Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, as based on Julian calendar

The Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi on Thursday welcomed the visiting Metropolitan of Ioannina, His Eminence Maximos, who arrived at the venerable monastery to celebrate the Annunciation of the Theotokos, the All-Holy Virgin Mary, as based on the Julian calendar. The Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi is dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary.

The Metropolitan of the Church of Greece was welcomed by the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of the Holy Monastery, along with Vatopedi elders and the Elder Archimandrite Methodios, the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Hilandar.

On Friday morning, His Eminence performed the Small Blessing of the Waters Service at the Monastery’s sanctified water fountain.

This was followed by the procession of the Holy Icon of Panagia Vimatarissa around the Monastery.

Afterwards, the Divine Liturgy was presided over by Metropolitan Maximos. Archimandrite Methodios, Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Chilandari, Archimandrite Ephraim, Abbot of the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi and representatives of Monasteries of The Mount Athos State also concelebrated.

The hymns were solemnly chanted by the Greek Byzantine Choir directed by the Music Teacher Dr. Georgios Constantinou in the right choir and Vatopedinoi Father in the left choir.

After the end of the festive Divine Liturgy, the monastic trapeza followed where feast day wishes were exchanged.
