Tanzania: The laying of the foundations of a new Orthodox Church dedicated to Apostle Mark
The foundations of a new Church, dedicated to Saint Mark the Apostle and Evangelist, were laid last Saturday in Gegetano, Geita, of the Diocese of Bukoba and Western Tanzania.
This new Church is another contribution of Fr. George Schinas, Parish Priest of the Church of Saint Nicholas in Athens, and of the Charity Association “Saint Alexios the man of God”.
This Church is the fifth to be founded this year, during which the building of Churches in the Diocese of Bukoba and Western Tanzania began with the Grace of God.
The Churches of Saint Fotini in Byambutemba, built by the Holy Metropolis of Nea Smyrna and the Church of Saint Evmenios in Bugaza, donated by an expatriate Greek from Germany, have already been completed. The Churches of Saint Catherine in Ruko, a donation of the Missionary Association “Saint Kosmas Aitolos” of Stavroupoli, Thessaloniki, and Saint Paraskevi in Omukichuchu, a donation of the Church of Saint Paraskevi of the Agia Paraskevi Municipality of Attica, are in the stage of completion.
His Grace Bishop Chrysostomos inspected the works in the Churches and glorified God together with the priests and the people of these Parishes.
The goal of the Diocese is to erect around 100 Churches. Donors are now sought for the Churches: The Church of the Sun of righteousness Jesus Christ in Sinyanga, The Church of the Good Farmer Jesus Christ in Owmbeya Ikimba, The Church of the Great Fish Jesus Christ in Kalombera Bukoba, The Church of the Honorable Forerunner in Kisuma Biharamuro, The Church of the Evangelist Luke in Bushesa Kyerwa, The Church of the Evangelist Matthew in Chanika Karagwe, The Church of the Apostle Philip in Kilombero Geita, The Church of the Apostle Nathanael in Kisomoko Geita, The Church of the Apostle Thomas in Rwamigasa Geita, The Church of the Apostle Barnabas in Yanda Kyerwa, The Church of the Apostle Matthias in Shamba Muleba, The Church of the Apostle James the brother of God in Kyota Muleba, The Church of the Apostle Simon in Omukikarama Karagwe, The Church of the Apostle Sosthenes in Bukoba, The Church of Saint Stephen in Karama Ikimba, The Church of Saint John Chrysostom in Bugomora, The Church of Saint Artemios in Buhanga Geita, The Church of Saint Kosmas Aitolos in Bukoba, The Church of Saint Paisios in Ishera Sinyanga, The Church of Saint John of the Ladder in Pomvu Geita, The Church of Saint John the Merciful in Katoro Geita, The Church of Saint Panteleimon in Omukokongo Karagwe, The Church of Saint Menas in Nyamuswa Geita, The Church of Saint Irene in Rugasha Ikimba and the Church of Saint Marina in Itala Misseni.
