Sydney: Students delved into Greek culture through the traditional costumes of the Hellenic Lyceum
As part of the celebration of the centenary of the founding of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, an interesting event was organised in Sydney for the young students of the Greek Community, with the cooperation of the Holy Archdiocese, and the three Greek Orthodox Day Colleges (Saint Spyridon College, All Saints Grammar and Saint Euphemia College), the Greek State, through the Consulate General in Sydney, and the Hellenic Lyceum in Sydney.
The traditional costumes made available by the Hellenic Lyceum of Sydney became a source of knowledge for the students, teaching them about the history, geography, culture and traditions of the homeland.
The event was attended by His Grace Bishop Christodoulos of Magnesia, who conveyed the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, as well as by the Consul General of Greece in Sydney, Mr. Yannis Mallikourtis, who emphasised to the Greek youth the importance of maintaining strong ties to their Greek heritage and the Greek language.
