Sydney: Feast Day celebration of the Church of Archangel Michael, Crows Nest
On Tuesday and Wednesday, 7th and 8th of November 2023, the Feast Day of the Synaxis of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel and the Other Heavenly Bodiless Powers, was celebrated at the Church of Archangel Michael in the Sydney suburb of Crows Nest.
With the Blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the Festive Great Vespers on the eve of the feast day were officiated by His Grace Bishop Iakovos of Miletoupolis, who, addressing the congregation, recalled the presence of angels in our lives and especially the guardian angel given to us at our Holy Baptism, to guard and protect us on our spiritual journey. His Grace Bishop Iakovos also conveyed the wishes, blessings and love of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia to all the faithful who had come to the Vespers service.
On the main day of the Feast, Wednesday morning, His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim of Sevasteia presided over the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, and during his homily referred to the presence of angels in the Divine Liturgy as experienced by the Saints and Fathers of our Church.
