On Sunday, 27 October 2024, at the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, in the suburb of Kogarah, Sydney, the anniversary of October 28, 1940 was celebrated with splendour and the memory of the Holy Great Martyr Dimitrios the Myrrh-gusher was honoured.

His Grace Bishop Christodoulos of Magnesia, Parish Proistamenos, officiated in the full Church. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, a procession of the Holy Icon of Saint Dimitrios took place, with the participation of the Pan-Macedonian Association of New South Wales.

This was followed by the Doxology for the anniversary of the heroic “NO / OXI” of October 28, 1940, while the School presentation then took place, with the active participation of the students of the Greek schools of the Parish – Community of the Resurrection of Christ.

His Grace Bishop Christodoulos of Magnesia conveyed the paternal wishes and the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia to the members of the Pan-Macedonian Association of New South Wales and especially to the young students, emphasising the value of preserving the historical memory of the events of 28 October 1940, as well as national and religious traditions.
