Sunday of the Veneration of the Holy Cross presided by His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis in Boxhill, VIC
On Sunday, 27 March, 2022, At the Church of the Holy Cross, Boxhill, the third Sunday of Lent, namely the Sunday of the Veneration of the Holy Cross was celebrated by His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis.
In the morning, the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was presided over by His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, with the participation of the Partish Priest father Dionysios Rallis. Before the end of Orthros, the Veneration of the Holy Cross was performed.
In the homily of the day, His Grace explained, what it meant when our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ said – to carry your cross.
What it means in essence is to have repentance in our hearts. And when you have repentance, then you have the Light of Christ. There are people who continue to be simple, who repent and are enlightened.
They may not have studied in schools or higher education institutions, but because they have true repentance they know and recognise many things, from those who have gone before us.
How did the good robber know that Christ was the Son of God?
Who told him? How did he knew about the Kingdom of Christ and said, “Remember me, Lord, when you come into your Kingdom.” He was enlightened by this true repentence. We are all in need of this true repentance.
After the Divine Liturgy, Father Dionysios Rallis, the members of the Board of the community and the Philoptochos society invited His Grace to a fellowship dinner in which he sat down and talked with them in the hall of the community.
