Sunday of the Veneration of the Holy Cross at the Phanar
His All-Holinees the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, officiated on Sunday, March 27, 2022, Third Sunday of Great and Holy Lent, Sunday of the Veneration of the Holy Cross, at the Divine Liturgy at the Venerable Patriarchal Church of Saint George in the Phanar.
With His All-Holiness were present also, Their Eminences, Metropolitan Meliton of Philadelphia, Metropolitan Ireneos of Muriofutos and Peristasis, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Myra, Metropolitan Theolyptos of Iconium and Metropolitan Joacheim of Proussa.
The Divine Liturgy was performed, according to the order of the Holy Church, by the Chief Secretary of the Holy and Great Synod, Archimandrite Very Rev. Father Grigorios, with the deputy secretary, Deacon Father Vosporios. The divine word was preached, according to the order of the Holy Church, by the Great Archdeacon Father Paisios.
Joined also in prayer at the Divine Liturgy was His Grace Bishop Adrianos of Alikarnassos, Mrs. Danae Vasilaki, Consul of Greece in city of Constantinople, Mr. George Koumoutsakos, Member of the Hellenic Parliament, former Minister, and a large number of believers from the City of Constantinople and abroad. On the eve, His All0 Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew officiated during the Vespers, which was attended by a large number of believers also.
On Sunday afternoon, the Ecumenical Patriarch flew to Poland at the invitation of President Andrzej Duda and the Primate of the Polish Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Sawa Metropolitan of Warsaw in order to support them and strengthen them morally in this great ordeal that they and their homeland are going through.
His All- Holiness is accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan Elder Emmanuel of Chalcedon and the Protocyncellus Very Rev. Father Iakovos. His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Apostolos of Derkon was appointed the commissioner of the Patriarch.
