Sunday of Orthodoxy at the Church of Saint Vasilios in Brunswick, Victoria
Sunday of Orthodoxy was celebrated with due splendor at Saint Vasilios, Brunswick, in the Archdiocesan District of Northcote, where the His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta presided.
Prior to the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, in accordance with the order of our Church, the procession of the Holy Icons took place and His Grace Bishop Evmenios read the prescribed pericopes from the “Synodikon of Orthodoxy”.
In his sermon, His Grace Bishop Evmenios first referred to the historical context of the feast, noting, among other things, that it is confirmed by history that heresies and schisms are not caused by people with different views outside the life of the Church, but usually by people within the Church. who often find it difficult to follow the virtue of obedience and prefer selfishness and pride.
“We are called today, The Sunday of Orthodoxy, to become Orthodox and not anti-orthodox, remaining faithful to our Holy Church, to the Ecumenical Patriarchate, to the bond between the Synod and the Bishop,” His Grace stressed.
